Benefit Days with Borders Books

Borders gives 5013c's the opportunity to run benefit days with them. A benefit day is a day in which your organization gets a portion of the profits that are made when an agency assigned barcode is used on that date. An organization is allowed to throw events in store during the benefit days. What still would need to be worked out is what type of events could take place during the benefit days. I think we should take ...more »

Bostonians’ favorite time in the city is just around the corner…no it’s not the Red Sox home opener…and no it’s not St. Paddy’s day in Southie…but almost as exciting…Restaurant Week is coming!!! What better time to tap into people’s consciences than after they’ve enjoyed a delicious 5 star meal at a fraction of the cost? Be more green - print double-sided

Let's be more green by changing our individual computer settings to print double-sided automatically. It would take everyone less than a minute to change their printer preferences, and the impact would be immediate. If everyone in the office did this it would cut our paper consumption in half, thus saving us money and reducing the paper clutter on our desks. The money saved could be sent our to our agencies and programs. ...more »

Spare Change for United Way

I was returning home from a visit to Italy when I realized that I still had a small amount of Euro. I really couldn’t buy much with it and it wasn’t enough to make a trip to the bank to exchange it worthwhile. I then noticed a large, glass globe in the middle of Rome Airport where visitors could donate their foreign coin to charity. United Way could install something similar at Logan Airport where visitors could deposit ...more »

Cashing in Charlie Ticket Balances

Did you ever notice that the MBTA's Charlie Machines offer a $5.00 ticket as a first choice on the ticket machines? Most people think that $5 is going to give you a round trip. Actually, $3.40 or $4 gives you a round trip. So what happens to that ticket with a dollar left on it? Sometimes its added to, often its thrown away. It would be great to work a deal with MBTA to collect the tickets, find out the value and ...more »
